Description:

  1. Pupils will hear religious principles as to why caring for the earth matters, and answer for themselves
  2. Pupils will find out why different religious people might take action to care for and protect the earth
  3. Pupils will learn how beliefs influence different people to respond to the climate crisis

Overall aim:

  • To understand different responses to climate change
  • To understand what sort of religious and ethical principles lead people respond as they do
  • To discuss and present own responses and explain why

By the end of the unit:

Pupils will explore different religious and moral responses to the climate crisis and hold a ‘council meeting’ to decide for themselves what their responses should and could be. Pupils will create a piece of art to reflect their thinking, presenting the different religious responses to climate change: ‘Pray, protest or proactive – where do people stand on climate change?’.
