Description:
- Pupils will learn about a wide range of ethical thinkers and apply their thinking to case studies concerning the environment, such as throwaway plastic straws and animal cruelty
- Pupils will apply ethical thinking to biblical views of humans and the natural world
- Pupils will encounter environmental ethics, exploring ideas of domination and stewardship
Overall aim:
- to explore various forms of ethical thinking applied to the environment
- to consider humanity’s ethical rights and responsibilities towards the natural world
- to focus on the relationship with non-human species
By the end of the unit:
Pupils will have many opportunities to test ethical thinking for themselves on various case studies. They will learn about ancient and modern ethical thinkers in the field of environmental ethics. Pupils will create a research project for themselves, and will explore and make sense of key ethical themes relating to the environment.
