Speaking truth to Power: the Prophetic Voice
Posted on June 15, 2024 by John Meredith
Age: KS1-2
Overall aim:
- To see nature as a subject and not as an object.
- To ask: how does the prophetic voice relate to the climate?
- Focus on and celebrate joy in creation
- Connect thinking to action
Description:
- Pupils will think about and understand that nature as a subject (ie the thing doing something) and not as an object (having something done to it).
- Pupils will learn about the historical role of prophets and think about being prophetic in the modern world
- Pupils will think about joy ad where they find it, making connections to joy in the natural world
By the end of the unit:
Pupils will have explored their local area, seeking beauty and joy. They will make links to spirituality. They will consider how nature needs our help and support and will start to imagine creative ways to make a different in their area. We will explore how pupils can speak truth to power at a local and national level.
